Laurie Lee, town meeting member for Precinct 1, has posted a great deal of data on her web site, including information on tax exempt properties in Framingham and properties owned by social service agencies.

Leadership Metro West offers programs to not only build community leaders, but to show people the diverse ways that people can become involved in their community.

KNIT Worcester is a neighborhood organization formed to help coordinate neighborhoods in Worcester whose identity as residential, family neighborhoods are at risk from a proposed new facility.

The Sucker Pond Neighborhood Association represents the interests of Sucker Pond and the neighborhoods around it, including the fight against the huge Wayside facility on Lockland Avenue.

Town of Framingham

The Town of Framingham has many useful features on its web site, including a directory, a database of properties, and mailing lists to keep you informed abut town government and public works. At the request of many citizens, they posted information on tax exempt properties in Framingham. There is also an online form for submitting complaints and queries to the various departments, such as street and sidewalk repair.

Framingham Town Meeting now has its own web site (though it doesn't have a link to the list of Town Meeting Members).

The Planning Board is in charge of making sure new developments in Framingham are in the best interests of the town, its citizens, and the environment.

The Zoning Board of Appeals is where citizens and developers can go to appeal zoning decisions.

The Framingham Police have crime prevention tips, crime statistics, and more on their web site.

The Framingham Fire Department has information on fire safety, locations of substations, etc.

The minutes and agendas of the Framingham PILOT Committee are posted regularly on the town web site.

Social Law Library's On-Line Databases allow you to search the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and Appeals Court, Land Court, etc., and also numerous state resources such as the Office of the Attorney General and the State Ethics Commission.

FindLaw and FindLaw for Legal Professionals allow you to browse practice area topics for the latest legal news, case law, and analytical articles, search for a case, research an attorney, browse U.S. federal and state resources, references, and more.

Justice Learning is an innovative, issue-based web site encouraging informed political discourse. The site, aimed primarily at students, has articles, editorials and oral debate aimed at promoting reasoned debate. (Issues are primarily at the federal level.)

Google Scholar allows you to search for scholarly articles and abstracts from scholarly journals.

Google News allows you to search and browse 4,500 news sources from around the world.

Framingham Community Wiki allows people to share information and recommendations about services and places in the area of Framingham.

Framingham Views is a blog concentrating on exactly what it says -- views of Framingham -- concentrating on Framingham history. For instance, they have photos of the Railroad Crossing in 1916, the Civic League in 1928, and Union Ave in 1950.

Framingham Taxpayers Association is a limited taxation group heavily involved in Framingham politics, hosting candidate's debates, etc.

City Data's Framingham page has a great deal of information including census data, climate data, and much more.

IPS real estate lists recent real estate transactions on their web site.

A Better Framingham is a limited taxation group with a great deal of information on their site.

Framingham.com describes itself as The Framingham Online News and has a variety of useful information, although much of it is out of date.

Metrowest Social Service Agencies

SMOC is the South Middlesex Opportunity Council, a $50 million a year corporation, one of the biggest in the social service industry in the area.

The Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is the social service agency responsible for the enormous 72-bed facility planned for Lockland Ave. in Framingham.

The Salvation Army is a an international relief organization with a storefront and soup kitchen in a dilapidated, overcrowded building in downtown Framingham.

Spectrum Health runs the methadone clinic in downtown Framingham.

Advocates, Inc.'s mission "is to assist people with disabilities or other individual challenges to overcome personal obstacles and societal barriers to obtaining homes, meaningful work, satisfying relationships and to living the fullest possible lives, while inspiring our communities to create opportunities for contribution and participation by all." They recently received help from the Board of Selectmen in the form of a letter supporting their grant application to bring more than a million federal dollars to Framingham to renovate the rest home at Vernon Street into eight apartments for people with disabilities.

The Framingham Police Department lists public information information on known sex offenders, including offenses and work or home addresses.

Family Watchdog has a searchable database of known sex offenders: enter your zip code and it displays registered offenders.

Note: neither of these tools will list offenders who have not yet been arrested, classified, or who have not registered. Also, incorrect or missing data (such as zip code) will result in missing data from searches.
